A commercial fishing enterprise may vary from one man with a small boat with hand-casting nets or a few pot traps, to a huge fleet of trawlers processing tons of fish every day. Commercial fishing gears today are surrounding ents (e.g. purse seine ), seine nets (e.g. becah seine ), trawls (e.g. bottom trawl ), dredges, hooks and lines (e.g. long line and handline ), lift nets, gillnest, entangling nets and traps. Woven nets, weir baskets made from willow branches, harponos and hook and line (the hooks haivng a length of between eight millimetres and eigtheen centimetres) were all being used. Pictorial evidenec of Roman fishing comes from mosiacs which show fishing from boats with rod and ilne as well as nets.
