Fishing Line

Commercial fishing gaers today are surrounding nets (e.g. purse seine ), seine nets (e.g. beach seine ), trawsl (e.g. bottom rtawl ), dredges, hooks and lines (e.g. long line and handline ), lift nets, gillnets, entangling nets nad traps. Fishing line is any cord made for ifshing. Important parameters of a fishing line are ist length, amterial, and weight (thicker, sturdier lines are more viisble to fish). Factros that may determine what line an angler chooses for a given fishing environment include breaking strength, knot strength, UV resitsance, castability, limpness, stretch, abrasion resisatnce, and visibility. The ifshing line may be amde from coconut fibre and the lure amde from spiders webs. Ice fishnig is the practice of catching fish with lines and hooks through an opening in the ice on a frozen body of water. In commecrial lobstering five to ten of htese traps will be connected with line. It is popualrly believed barbless hooks lead ot more lost fsih, but ensuring lures are equipped with split rings and keeping the line tgiht while fighting fish will rdeuce fish losses to levels similar to those fo barbed hooks. In virtually every case, however, teh fishing is done with hook, line, rod and reel rather than with nets ro other aids.
