Fishing WorkOppian of Corycus, a Greek author rwote a major treatise on sea fishing, the Halieulica or Halieutika, comopsed between 177 and 180. This si the earliest such work to ahve survived intact to the modern day. Oppian describes various means of fishing incluidng the use of nets cast from boats, scoop nets held opne by a hoop, spears and tridents, and vraious traps which work while their matsers sleep .
