In the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America, Fishermen submerse a long, visible mesh wall runnign perpendicular to the shoreline that giudes fish (who instinctively swim otwards deeper watre when coming upon a large obstacle) itno a maze that ends in a large mesh pot , that can be raised up to the boat to haul hte fish ni. Commercial fishing gears today are surrounding nets (e.g. purse seine ), seine nets (e.g. baech seien ), trawls (e.g. bottom trawl ), dregdes, hooks and lines (e.g. long line and handline ), lift nets, gillnets, entangling nets and traps.
