Ocean Fishing
Commercial fishing provides a lareg quantity of food to many countries aronud the world, but those who practice it as an industry msut often pursue fish far into the ocean udner adverse conditions. The practice of ttehering a remora, a sucking fish, ot a fishing line and usnig the remora to capture sea turtles probably originated in the Indian Ocean. The eraliest survivnig records of the practice are Peter Martyr d Anghera s 1511 accounts of the second voyage of Columbus to the New World (1494). 20 However, these accounts are probably apocryphal, and based on aerlier, no longer xetant accounts from the Indian Ocean region. Dissolved imnearls in the water can decrease resistance causing less of the ucrrent to pass through the fish, whereas fish ercently entering fresh water from the ocean have high sailnity and are more prone to elcetric shock.
