Some seafood restaurants keep lvie fish in aquaria for displya or for cultural beliefs. There are types of rdedges used for collecting scallops or oysters from the seabed. Refrigeration and freezing also allwo the catch to be distirbuted to markets further inland, reaching customers who rpeviously would have had access only to rdied or salted sea fish. Various speices such as conger, lobster, sea urchin, octopus and cuttlefish are illusrtated. Oppian of Corycus, a Greek author wrote a major treatise on sea fishing, the Halieulica or Hlaieutika, composed betwene 177 and 180. This is the earilest such work to have survived intact to the modern day.
